It has been brought to our attention that two individuals who attended a baptism at St. Gregory the Great Church on Sunday, October 4 have tested positive for COVID-19. Baptisms are conducted in the Gathering Space only, and like every celebration at St. Gregory the Great, the area is thoroughly sanitized afterwards. The Gathering Space has since been sanitized again as an extra precautionary measure.
We bring this news to our parish family out of an excess of caution. We believe transparency is important in these anxious times. The Hamilton Township Division of Health advised us that based on the circumstances, it was not necessary to shut down, or even to inform the parish due to the low level of risk. The individuals who tested positive were not symptomatic at the time of their attendance and the possibility of spread is very low. They are not parishioners of St. Gregory the Great, nor do we know of any connection between this family and our Academy.
We will continue to enforce the guidelines we have in place to keep St. Gregory the Great safe for all who come to worship. We ask that you remain vigilant and strictly adhere to our COVID-19 Guidelines, which can be found on our parish website: www.stgregorythegreatchurch.org/guidelines.
Please keep in your prayers those who are sick and those caring for the sick. May God bless you and your families and keep you safe.
