The Parish of St. Gregory the Great presents
TUESDAY NIGHT LIVE
What we have lost by ignoring Humanae Vitae
and how we can find it again
presented by Dr. Jordan Miller
Tuesday, January 24, 2017
7:30pm in the Chapel
Humanae Vitae, Blessed Paul VI’s encyclical letter on the Church’s teaching on human sexuality and the use of birth control, has been the topic of much discussion since its publication in 1968. For nearly 50 years, many millions of Catholics have understood this letter as imposing on married couples a heavy burden, an impossible demand that cannot be carried out in the concrete situations of real life. Dr. Jordan Miller will join us for our next Tuesday Night Live presentation to offer perspective on the purpose of the letter: it is not about whether birth control is 'allowed' or 'not allowed,' but about what the human being is, and about what sex is. "The truth will set you free" (John 8:32) and what Christ offers to us in
Humanae Vitae is not restriction but freedom, not a prison but liberation, not a burden placed on us, but a burden removed.
