All parishioners are invited to attend the Church of St. Gregory the Great’s Lenten Station Mass on Monday, March 21 at 7PM. We are one of fourteen churches in Mercer County to carry on this Lenten tradition. The story of the Station Churches traces its roots as far back as the late second and early third century. During Lent the faithful of Rome were invited to visit a different church each day and celebrate Mass. It provides for a Lenten pilgrimage and many people would walk to the different churches. Those in attendance will be greeted and given a brief history of the parish before Mass, and then Mass will be celebrated. Following Mass there will be an optional tour of the church providing an opportunity to learn about some of the treasured art and architecture unique to our parish.
Won’t you join us this year?
The purpose of the Station Churches is to provide an opportunity to visit some of the beautiful Churches of Mercer County and to worship with other Catholics of our county. In each Church we will gather for Mass, hear briefly about the history of the parish and an optional tour of the Church. You are invited on a Faith Pilgrimage to the Churches of Mercer County for Lenten Mass
