Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion help ensure a timely and reverent distribution of Communion when there are not enough ordained ministers available at Mass. Outside of Mass, they also assist priests and deacons in bringing Holy Communion to the sick and homebound.
St. Gregory the Great offers regular training sessions for new Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. To qualify, you must be a fully initiated Catholic (having received the sacraments of Initiation), be in good standing with the Church, be at least 16 years old, and be a registered member of St. Gregory the Great who participates regularly in the sacramental life of the Church.
