As we embark on the 2025 Diocesan Annual Appeal, we invite you to join us in Fanning the Flame of Hope during this Jubilee Year. This year’s Appeal theme reminds us that “Hope Does Not Disappoint” (Romans 5:5) and that, together, we can bring Christ’s love and hope to our most vulnerable neighbors.
Why Your Support Matters The Appeal funds essential diocesan ministries that:
Strengthen families
Educate our youth
Form and sustain clergy
Provide hope and care to those in need
Our Parish Goal & How We Can Reach It he Diocese has established parish goals based on overall needs and each parish’s offertory income. For St. Gregory the Great, our 2025 goal is $132,000—an increase of $7,000 from previous years. While this is a challenge, we have seen time and again how our parish community rises in faith and generosity to meet the needs of the Church.
Maximizing Our Parish Benefits By working together to reach and surpass our goal, we not only support the vital ministries of the Diocese but also receive direct benefits for our parish:
100% Rebate on all funds raised beyond our goal
5% Rebate of the goal ($6,600) if we increase our donor participation by 5% (just 22 more donors than last year)
5% Rebate of the goal ($6,600) if we meet our pledge goal by July 31, 2025
While the rebate structure has changed, our collective generosity ensures that St. Gregory the Great remains a thriving parish, strengthened by the blessings we share with others.
Your Gift Makes a Difference Through the 2025 Annual Catholic Appeal, we answer Christ’s call to “love one another as I have loved you” (John 13:34). Your support brings hope, care, and Christ’s love to thousands across the Diocese of Trenton. Together, we can reach those in need, strengthen families, and transform lives.
When he announced the Jubilee Year 2025, Pope Francis invited all the faithful to "fan the flame of hope that has been given to us" by becoming "pilgrims of hope." Here in the Diocese of Trenton we accept his invitation by enthusiastically supporting the Annual Catholic Appeal during this Jubilee Year. As pilgrims of hope, we journey together, anchored in faith, and we are strengthened by the ministries that define our faith. Through the support of the Annual Catholic Appeal, we help our Diocese, parishes and Catholic institutions build a future of hope for one another as we fulfill the Church's gospel mission to share Christ's love throughout each of our four counties.
By making a gift you make a commitment to become part of a shared mission that allows our local Church to warm the hearts of its faithful in the "flame of hope." Pope Francis has reminded us that "hope does not disappoint because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us (Romans 5:5)." Through your support of this year's Annual Catholic Appeal, become "pilgrims of hope" with me in our Diocese.
Faithfully yours in the Lord, Most Reverend David M. O'Connell, C.M. Bishop of Trenton
