Can you spend one hour with Our Lord?
Do you long for a quiet time and place to come before Jesus, to open yourself to him, to tell him your cares, to tell him of your love, and to hear his soft, sweet voice speak in your heart? Come spend an hour with the Lord. He is waiting for you.
On Tuesday, February 2, 2010, the Feast of the Presentation of Our Lord, our parish initiated weekly adoration with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in the Chapel. Exposition begins after the 8:30am Mass and concludes with Benediction at 7pm.
Once placed on the altar, The Blessed Sacrament
must never be left unattended and unadorned. In order to sustain the practice of Tuesday exposition in our our parish, commitments are needed from many parishioners so that someone is with Him throughout the whole day. Are you able to join our “adorers” and come for one hour weekly or monthly to pray for the needs of the parish, your families, the world and most of all to adore Our Lord who is always present for us?
Our Holy Father Pope Benedict teaches us how great your reward will be: “Adoration is not opposed to Communion or merely added to it. No, Communion only reaches its true depths when it is supported and surrounded by adoration... a church in which the eternal light is burning before the tabernacle is always alive, is always something more than a building made of stones.
In this place the Lord is always waiting for me, calling me, wanting to make me ‘Eucharistic’... how many saints were nourished and led to the Lord by this experience!”
If you cannot commit to every week, please sign up to come monthly, as a substitute, or as otherwise able. If you cannot come for an hour, are you able to come for a half hour? Tuesday exposition is also a wonderful opportunity for your group (liturgical ministers, other ministry groups, catechists, teachers, parish staff, whole families) to adopt a time slot when one or more members are committed to attend. The group's hour would provide an excellent chance to pray for your ministry or family and ask God's blessing and direction. Please encourage others (family, children, friends, teachers, ministry leaders) to take part in adoration, whether singly or as a group. Our Lord wants to spend time with each and every one of us!
